We created ‘Animal Adventure Pods’ in the summer of 2020 when we suddenly found ourselves out of work due to the pandemic. As two professional creatives (and bunny lovers) and after seeing what was already out there on the market we wondered wether people would be interested in more creative bunny hides. We jotted down some crazy ideas and set to making our first prototypes. Josh, with a degree in product design and Ellie, with a degree and background in set design and construction for film and TV (and a passion for our two house bunnies Gizmo and Hugo) we started to sketch.
Once the prototypes were made we created an Instagram account and the rest is history.

Every pod is designed by the two of us. We manufacture, sand, prep and package every single pod ourselves at our workshop near Manchester, England. This reduces transport and air miles which in turn reduces our carbon footprint. We try to make our business as sustainable as possible, making tags and bunting from the gaps between pods to reduce wood waste and the majority of our packaging being plastic free!

Once a prototype has been made, we product test for a few weeks in our living room so we can supervise Gizmo and Hugo interacting with the product, this ensures that the product is safe and fit for purpose. And then if needed, changes will be made, further product testing carried out and then we will release the product in our shop. We have even visited friends with Giant bunnies and sent out products to people with Guineapigs to ensure designs are tested and suitable for those intended. 
From starting out in our spare room, to expanding into a shipping container in Ancoats and then finally biting the bullet and investing in our own machine and unit space north of Manchester, it has enabled us to push our design boundaries to create something really special for bunnies (and piggies) all around the world.
